What this is, in plain language

UM-NSU CARD is a free, state-funded programme that helps Broward autistic people and people with related disabilities, and their families, find local services, training and support; it does not diagnose but helps a family find a qualified professional who can.

Getting started

Families register directly using CARD's online form (Spanish- and Haitian Creole-language versions are also published) and provide documentation of an eligible diagnosis; a case manager can then be assigned to discuss needs by phone or video. Anyone unsure whether they're already registered can just call.

Written from what the provider publishes, to save you decoding it. It describes the service; it is not our view of how good it is.

What they say about themselves

Taken from the provider's own website. We have not verified the claims — the parent reviews below are the other half of the picture.

  • A collaborative programme of the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University, part of Florida's state-funded, university-based CARD network.
  • Serves Broward families from a Nova Southeastern University office in Davie.
  • Does not carry out diagnostic evaluations itself, but helps families find a qualified professional who does.
  • All services are free; becoming a client requires registering online and providing documentation of an eligible diagnosis.
  • Case managers can discuss school options and the IEP process to help meet a child's educational needs.
