- Created the Nicklaus Children's Hospital Dan Marino Outpatient Center (originally with Miami Children's Hospital in 1998) and the Marino Autism Research Institute, formed with the University of Miami, Nova Southeastern University, Vanderbilt and USC.
- Created the Marino Adapted Aquatics Certification Program after a number of drownings of disabled children in Florida; the programme is now overseen by the Els for Autism Foundation.
- Runs employment programmes for autistic teens and young adults, including Summer STEPS and STEP into Employment, with a Marino Campus post-secondary school in Broward and a second campus at FIU's Modesto Maidique Campus in Miami.
