Autism Delaware and the YMCA partnered to launch autism-specific swim lessons at the Brandywine Y and downtown Wilmington Y, with a further programme at the Sussex Y, built around water safety. Instructors are trained to watch for sensory sensitivity to water and noise and to allow for differences in how quickly a swimmer takes in instructions.
