The Charlotte-area office of the Autism Society of North Carolina offers parent training, support groups and workshops on advocacy, behaviour support and the transition to adulthood. Resource specialists give one-on-one help with school rights and finding local providers, and the office runs Employment Supports and sliding-scale Respite Care programmes, plus a Spanish-speaking specialist.

The Children's Developmental Services Agency for Mecklenburg County is North Carolina's local early-intervention agency for children birth to age three with developmental delays. Evaluations, assessments and service coordination are free, and no family is turned away for inability to pay. It covers early intervention only, not school-age services.
