What they say about themselves

Taken from the provider's own website. We have not verified the claims — the parent reviews below are the other half of the picture.

  • The University of Washington Autism Center is staffed by an interdisciplinary team of speech-language pathologists, behaviour analysts, occupational therapists and psychologists providing assessment, diagnosis and intervention for autism spectrum disorder.
  • The centre has served autistic people, families and providers for 25 years, reaching more than 15,000 people since 2000. Services require clients to be Washington State residents.
  • The centre does not require a referral for diagnostic evaluations (ages 0–18) or non-diagnostic services; parents can self-refer by completing an online registration form or calling.
  • For ages 0–3, diagnostic evaluations are available. For ages 3–18, diagnostic evaluations, speech therapy, ABA, sleep assessment, psychotherapy and occupational therapy are offered.
  • Evaluations produce an individualised, written report with recommendations for treatment, intervention and educational planning for use at school and at home.
  • The centre is a Washington Health Care Authority Center of Excellence for Medicaid, with direct contracts for straight Medicaid and Molina; other Medicaid managed care plans need a pre-authorised single case agreement, decided case by case.
